Sony Step Into User Generated Video

The acquisition spree continues as Sony snap up Youtube rival Grouper.

Some two years ago Narrowstep discussed developing a bespoke user generated service for Sony that would have taken a month to develop and cost under $200k. It never happened because the head of the camcorder division didn't believe that anyone would want to upload videos to the web - 'tapes to watch on television' was apparently what they wanted.

So now, another part of the Sony Group has spent $65m to enter this market. Ho hum...
