Reports today that Google are about to take a broom to Youtube once their acquisition is completed so as not to fall foul of the legal establishment. This is both inevitable and sensible, but what effect will it have on the service's usage.
The reality is that everyone out there is lining up their portal play, which will inevitably be a combination of user generated, professional niche and mainstream film and tv content with a clever search engine. Just as with internet portals (remember Excite and Lycos ?), there will be a hundred or more that will gradually be whittled down to an oligopoly, just as exists in internetland.
