Crazy Guys, Crazy Name

You can't really knock anyone who built a multibillion dollar business and added a verb to the English language in the process and the guys from Skype are at it again.

Their clumsily named The Venice Project has become Joost. It sounds a bit strange in English, but hey, they must have be on Register.com for hours looking for the rare .com that was a) available and b) sounded catchy.

I've blogged before about their technology, which is a client based P2P peer with a dedicated service behind it. The technology is impressive and they seem to be making good inroads into the content market.

However, the commercial model has yet to appear, but as Skype shows, maybe it isn't about making money, just making enough noise. All together now... 'Joost!'.
