Oh what a surprise that the BBC's download service, iPlayer has 'got the go ahead...after consulations with members of the public'.
The iPlayer is good in that it continues to encourage use of the internet to access TV and is also useful if you've missed your favourite show.
It is bad in that it presents a huge competitor to new companies entering the market with commercial models. It almost certainly kills paid for content over the internet dead - although this market never really took off.
