Going To Market

There are interesting moves afoot in the US TV market as a band of high profile advertisers band together to create an online ad marketplace fro traditional television. The technology behind the initiative is to be provided by one of their number, eBay.

At the same time, I hear more and more news that the traditional advertising agencies are in meltdown over the acquisition of Doubleclick by Google and I'm convinced that my prediction that this will be referred to the competition authorities in due course is set to come true.

There can only be one conclusion from all this, the riddiculous way in which TV ad slots have been sold for the past half a century is rapidly coming to an end.
