Purchase Power

Ah, YouTube is stirring as they announce a move into ecommerce. Adding video to ecommerce sites is a winner, in all my experience, and their latest attempt to monetize the hugely expensive service is probably their smartest move yet.

Click to buy is especially obvious for music videos, but I've seen it working spectacularly well with all kind of goods. The combination of the emotional persuasion of video and the instant purchase gratification of the web are a money maker.

Certainly, the next plug-in for VidZapper, which seems to be missing in all other similar platforms, will be an ecommerce function, arriving early in the new year.
