How Long For Hubris

MSN is costing Microsoft a billion a year and YouTube is probably costing Google more in real terms.

How long can these vanity projects continue for in these difficult times ?

Both these companies need serious reform. Ballmer isn't 'fit for purpose' and just doesn't get how badly his market is about to errode.

Google is simply disfunctional - the 'develop first, make money later' philosophy worked for the first product, but has largely failed for the subsequent twenty thousand or so products. If ever there was a case of the tail wagging the dog...
