Level Playing Field

The news that £250m has been earmarked for rural broadband provision was very welcome. The need for a level playing field in broadband provision is an argument that has long been made on this blog. I just hope that it won't be taken from the BBC and handed to BT, or the term 'out of the frying pan and into the fire' come to mind.

It should be used to provide a new generation of wireless access points owned and controlled by the communities they serve. Companies like TFL should be actively encouraged to expand their services and provide a new business base in rural Britain.
