Slowing new viewer figures from Verizon with 191,000 new subscribers, although impressive, shows that the early land grab by the new fibre
telcos in the US is slowing down. Verizon and AT&T have forced the
cablecos to get their act together and the
fibrecos are slowly losing their technological
usp - next they have to turn to service as a
differentiator, but the likes of
Comcast and
Cablevision have now had time to come up with new strategies and technologies (even if they sometimes don't know what it's going to cost them).
The content guys out in Hollywood must be rubbing their hands with glee, and it could even be better news for the somewhat beleaguered channel operators.
