The Google Box

Google's march towards global dominance continues as it announced that it is to serve video ads in future. There is the usually debate online as to whether this is a good move.

Quite simply I believe it will be successful. Google can't make a bad move at the moment because of their ubiquity. Distribution is everything and Google has it in masses. There is also an over demand in the US for the delivery of online TV ads, so Google's move will substantially increase the number of slots available through its Adsense programme.

The major problem I can foresee is clutter. Video ads on a web page are out of context, and there is an overhead on connecting to pages that even a fast broadband connection won't smooth over.
