Making an Exhibition of Yourself

Of all the institutions that should be benefiting from the internet TV revolution museums and galleries should be chomping at the bit to extend their work and fulfill their 'outreach' potential.

Over the years I've spoken to many of these institutions, some of whom are far from practicing what they preach, and they always find an excuse - royalty payments, no content, no funding.

Yet imagine taking a leading museum online and opening its doors to hundreds of millions of visitors rather than the few hundred thousands that typically frequent these institutions.

Government is also to blame in not implicitly requiring the outreach of these institutions, which in most countries, are solely or largely Government funded.

It's not as if this sector would be short of sponsors for their IPTV services if they had the courage of their convictions.
