Reminiscing

I had a very enjoyable evening last night with friends and colleagues who have been involved in this industry with me forever - and are still foolish enough to work with me.

We reminisced about how Quick Time and Windows Media came from the same source. How much better Amiga was at video than anything that followed for fifteen years (BTW, Commodore are about to relaunch as a video device vendor with handheld video players, set top boxes, etc.. - look out for some blogs on this next week). Macromedia Director. How we encoded an Elton John video in 1993 and fitted it onto a floppy disk (remember those ?). Cinepak v Intel codecs. And so on...

It all seems only yesterday. That said, after a few beers, we agreed that it was only now that the industry has finally 'arrived'. That was a long wait.
