So, Brightcove have finally announced the final act of their play for world online video domination a they announced a marketplace for video. Inevitably, with their great PR machine, this achieved extensive coverage. However, they've made many announcements before that have failed to deliver anything more than their usual flurry of sycophantic press coverage (which remains woefully bad for the whole sector).
The question is: how much money will they need to spend to seed this marketplace, and especially what advantage they will have over video search services, who will seek to inject their own ads.
It's a world of deals our there in internet TV land and those who move fastest will gain an uncachable lead. The real looser with this announcement (again) is Roo Media, who have a very similar business plan but much shallower pockets.
