10:10 Vision

So BT Vision has finally launched. The only USP I can see is that it offers on demand TV to Freeview users (its TV service isn't available in non-freeview regions such as my home in Wales).

Metered TV is a good way of making money, I think, and BT have got their product to market before any of the portals or providers such as Orange and TalkTalk, but the product offering is considerably inferior to Sky + or NTL:telewest's excellent TV Drive service.

So, I predict limited success and big problems for other providers trying to launch 'me too' TV services.

As BT's deal with Setanta proves, content providers should be laughing all the way to the bank as compeition for top programming and events increases.
