Following on from my last post, I read that Viacom's MTV are now actively encouraging bloggers and websites to embed content from their channels, including Comedy Central (seen here on Vidzapper), in order to try and dilute the power of YouTube.
Clearly, there are great advantages to the 'host centrally and syndicate' model - largely in the fact that advertising and associated eCommerce are controlled centrally, also measurement is easier - so expect more and more of this model to appear, with content available on multiple 'publisher' or 'broadcaster' channels. Brightcive have got this aspect of their business spot on.
This will eventually enable viewers to put together their own 'channels', based on their playlists, from different sources.
