Going Mainstream

The mainstream content market is finally taking TV over IP seriously and NBC and NewsCorp are planning a major new service featuring both long and short form content that they will syndicate to distributors such as MSN and AOL.

The truly amazing thing (vindication !) is that it will be ad driven, although I suspect you'll have to live in the US to benefit from the service.

The move towards Super EPGs and providers into these services has begun. This significant development means that the availability of mainstream long form content will expand considerably.

Now that CBS (through Innertube) and NBC and NewsCorp are entering the long form 'serious' video over IP market, expect a very rapid tipping of the scales against traditional broadcast.

This is the day that TV 2.0 went mainstream.
