Cast TV, backed by the venerable DLJ, is coming out of beta to challenge Britain's Blinkx and AOL's Truveo.

Parsing RSS feeds isn't difficult, and this seems to be the best of the online search interfaces, but the challenge here is in integrating advertising in a form acceptable to users.

As ever with these services, though, there is a preponderance of short form and point and click interaction.

Perhaps last.fm, acquired this week by CBS, have it right with their 'generated schedule'.
