The latest IPTV report is out from the Multimedia Research Group and it shows that the top middleware providers in order of size are Thomson, Cascade, Alcatel-Lucent, UTStarcom, Siemens and Motorola. It seems to show that the STB and the middleware are still inextricably linked. This situation will change in the near future with the flood of new EPG providers and the advance of the browser market from companies such as Opera, Ant and Oregan.
The report also expects the IPTV market to grow eightfold in the next four years from $3.6bn to $20.4bn.
