Adobe has once more uped the ante on Microsoft by introducting H.264 (MPEG4) support for its Flash video player. A beta download of Adobe Moviestar is slated to be available shortly at Adobe Labs.
The move by YouTube to adopt H.264 as part of its recent deal with Apple's iTunes probably has some bearing on this decision, along with the ongoing poor quality of the Flash codecs, Soronsen and OnTwo (ONT). As a result, OnTwo has said that it will adopt the H.264 codec.
