Announcing their last quarterly results, it's clear that Google are pinning a lot of hope on video ad and video overlay delivery for their growth in the near future.

However, as analysts mark down the stock for slightly disappointing results (once again proving how goldfish-like the financial markets are), a sobering thought: Google's annual revenue run rate based on their last four quarters's results was $16.4bn. In the same period, the profits (earning) from oil giant Shell were $27.6bn.

Even in the information age, big oil rules the roster.
