Kick Off

Silverlight may have seen great success during NBC's coverage of the Olympics, but NBC and the NFL have switched allegiance to Adobe Flash as this year's football season kicks off.

It shows that Flash has now become a robust live platform and also shows what a struggle Microsoft faces to get its presentation technologies into the mainstream.

The decision to make live football matches available for free again shows how different the NFL acts from MLB, who have also seen great success with their online offerings (to the point that they offer their services to other sports federations).

However, what this really shows is the success of NBC's media sales operation in selling online TV advertising inventory.
