Google seems hell bent with taking on the enterprise video platform market with news that it is in talks to acquire Brightcove.
Now, this has to be taken with a pinch of salt, since any company that's up for sale likes to associate itself with the Google dollar, but Brightcove's presence on the pages of many mainstream news providers potentially makes it a valuable asset to leverage the Google business model.
Ironically, of course, Brightcove has moved away from the 'long tail' and established itself as an expensive, high end platform with real rates starting at over $1k a month.
After the On2 acquisition what is clear is that there is a real will in Mountain View to tackle the video space.
