How times have changed. Around six years ago I tried to get my then company, Narrowstep, onto the X-Box development programme in order to develop an IPTV interface on the platform. We'd identified how to do this, but our application was summarily turned down.
Now, Microsoft has teamed up with Sky to bring interactive and live TV to the gaming device with the ability to network with friends being seen as a key selling point.
As well as being a smart move for the X-Box it shows how seriously Sky is pursuing a 'tv everywhere' strategy on the back of the launch of its online service. One can only hope that the implementation this time is somewhat better than the unusable Sky Player service.
