Google To Drop H.264

As if to prove they can be as stupid and arrogant as the tech behemoths that went before them, Google has announced that it is dropping support for H.264 in Chrome in favour of its WebM codec.

Chrome had become my favourite browser, but I will now drop it like a stone, as I suspect will many other users.

Considering that H.264 has become a de facto standard it is very unlikely that Internet TV operators will invest in re-encoding their content into yet another codec.

In one fell swoop Goggle is doing great damage to two of it's core products.
