Online Piracy levels "mind boggling"

Bob Pisano of the MPAA described the findings of a new study by MarkMonitor "mind boggling". In specific the study tracked illegal distribution across 22 premium brands and found that linked illegal sites generated........wait for it........53 billion visits per year.
Without examining the methodology used to collect and interpret the data it is tricky to draw too many conclusions but it is safe to say that this study provides further proof that digital piracy is a major threat to the status quo.
The report makes the strong point that in the physical world supply and demand tend to be limited but that in the digital virtual world this is not the case making the rules of the game very different.
