In a welcome push back against those who seek to undermine copyright / IP rights generally the EU have voted to extend copyright protection for music to 70 years. The previous position was 50 years for music but 70 years for most other works.
Publishers like Google tend to lobby hard against copyright as it is not in their economic interest - if the entire Beatles back catalog can appear on YouTube for free and they take 30% of all related advertising sales - this is a bit of a winner for them.
