It seems that the first two of the twenty one local TV licences and subsidies much vaunted by our previous Culture Secretary and sometime bellringer, Jeremy Hunt, have been awarded.
Ofcom has awarded licences to Latest TV Ltd in Brighton & Hove, and Channel 7 Television Community Interest Company for a channel called Lincolnshire Living in Grimsby.
Despite the guaranteed high slot on the EPG and the programme subsidies, this is going to be a tough ask at a time when all the big US companies such as Amazon and Google are targeting local (and not having to pay tax on their services.)
Still, we wish them and the other nineteen successful applicants the very best of luck. We are still major flag bearers for narrowcasting here at IPTV Times.
